Abscessed Pulled, now pain, please help?

I just had an abscessed primary (baby) tooth pulled. The area where the tooth was pulled really hurts now, i have been home from the dentists for about an hour and I feel the pain in the area, and on the side of my face. Is this normal and if so how long can I expect pain to last? The abscess was pulled with the infection still, but they said that its normally ok if its just a baby tooth. Any feedback as well as remedies are welcome. Is it really supposed to hurt a lot afterwards this soon?

It is NOT ok to pull an abcess while the infection is still viable. I am hoping they gave you antibiotics; if not, call them back and demand some. The infection could spread. Abcesses are nothing to play around with, even if it is "baby" teeth.

As for your pain, since it is STILL infected, the pain is normal. They should have also given you a pain reliever of some sort. If not, call back and demand some of those as well.

If the cavity itself is inflamed, the pain will remain until the infection is treated properly. If not, the pain will remain for a day or so.

Honestly, your dentist sounds like an idiot. Call that office and demand the medication you should have received to begin with - then switch dentists.
Reply:Normally they numb the area when they pull the tooth and it takes 3 hours to feel right again after the tooth has been pulled. try taken some tablets that you know work for you.
Reply:I'll assume that wisdom teeth are the same, but your probly hurt a LOT. It's going to, and the only remedy that I know of is to drink a milkshake without the straw.
