What is the significance of being vegetarian in spirituality? Does our body suits to eat non vegetarian food?

A fair look at the evidence shows that humans are optimized for eating exclusively plant foods, and not meat.

Human anatomy: We're most similar to other herbivores, and drastically different from carnivores.

Longevity %26amp; health: The more meat we eat, the sicker we get. Meat is poison to us. It's the primary reason we get heart disease, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, and every other major degenerative disease. If eating meat were natural, it wouldn't destroy our health.

Physical performance: People have much better endurance when they don't eat meat -- whether they're professional athletes or not.

There are three types of animals

Meat Eaters

Plant Eaters

Fruit Eaters

Meat eaters have sharp teeth (Canine teeth) to pierce tough hide and to spear and tear flesh

Plant and Fruit Eaters have Molars (flat, back teeth) for grinding their food.

Humans have more Molar teeth however also have 4 sharp teeth’s.

What is the significance of being vegetarian in spirituality? Does our body suits to eat non vegetarian food?
Gentleman, you have already stated very clearly that our body suits only veg. foods.

Inspite of this, we see in papers that a man ate mud, tubelight etc.Does that mean that you can eat anything?I'm mentioning this only to say that you can train your body to eat anything you can.So the body will accept non veg food even if the body is structured only for veg food.

In my kriya class, conducted by the Isha foundation they very much give importance to veg food but not cooked food but raw vegetables and fruits.only pulses %26amp; grains are cooked %26amp; eaten.

In ancient times the people who are in the spiritual path have categorised the food as the positive energy food, the negative energy food %26amp; zero energy food. They don't count for callories or the nutrients in it.

Th positive energy foods are all the raw vegetables %26amp; fruits.

The negative energy foods are very few %26amp; they are bringals,[aubergines] onions, chillies[pepper is the best] asafoetida, garlic. Now they have included coffee %26amp; tea.0 enrgy foods are potatoes, tomatoes, all root vegetables like yam, tapioca etc.

How did they test their food? They tested with the rudraksha mala[chain] which they wear it. It has the power to find it.When you bring the rudraksha to a positive energy food it rotates clockwise, negative food- anticlockwise, 0 energy food -it moves like a pendulam to the left %26amp; the right.

So those who are in the spiritual path should take only positive energy food.I have cut down all the negative foods, but when i go for functions , marriages parties i take, but i limit myself with the food.Higher they develop in their spirituality they automatically switch in for veg.foods
Reply:god hasn't given you anything

evolution, which can actually be proven, has given you the ability to eat tough plant matter and eating animals...look at apes
Reply:i took a fair look at the evidence and came to a conclusion that humans are designed to eat all kind of food including meat.
Reply:because it is the law of nature. sow seed of mango today and get lots of mangoes tomrw.

or sow seed of chilly today and get more tomorrow.

Some person ask this question what is the harm in eating non vegetarian food ? . They say we enjoy eating it and we like its taste. Now it may be very tasty but we should also remember this line "I want maximum profits/gains." When a person sits and eats non veg food, then for how long will he gets its taste 10 minutes, 15 minutes or maximum of 30 to 60 minutes. But peeling of flesh of an animal and chewing it and then tasking it inside the stomach will lead to intake of negative energy into our body. And we have to pay for this in future as per the law of karma. (Scientists, doctors %26amp; spiritual gurus worldwide have confirmed that the person eating non veg. food have more anger, insecurity feeling, depression, fear, impatient nature then others. This is because when an animal is killed then at that time animal has all these feelings in its flesh i.e. of fear, anger, depression, insecurity, impatient nature etc. So as the input of non veg. food has negative energy, so the output of body is also negative i.e. same feelings of anger, fear, insecurity, depression etc will arrive in that person after eating such flesh. If you don't believe such doctors, scientists and spiritual gurus, God etc then you yourself try it and note down your satisfaction, happiness and contentment level with veg diet and with non veg diet. After all "I want maximum profits/gains." So i should be aware of my gains/ profits. Taste of 10 to 60 minutes maximum is much less then the tension and negative energy effects of many days.
Reply:Actually, i am a non vegetarian but i consume it only like once in 2 weeks.......It doesnt do any change to my body!!!!! I dont think it is true that People have much better endurance when they don't eat meat -- whether they're professional athletes or not becoz meat gives more proteins to our body!!!! It doesnt harm us!!!!!!!!
Reply:To find the answer to this question look to the Bible. God gave people animals to eat from the very beginning. It is a fable to believe that spirituality is dependent upon being a vegetarian. God never said it.

"Physical performance: People have much better endurance when they don't eat meat -- whether they're professional athletes or not. "

Now, that depends on the person whether or not they have more endurance eating only plants. Some people get weak and shaky unless they have meat with their meals. I'm one of those. When I don't eat protein I do not operate at peak performance.

Sounds like you've been watching too many commercials touting colonics :-)
Reply:without eating meat we wouldn't have developed the higher consciousness. you wouldn't be having this moral delimna.

our bodies run effeiciently when we eat a proper amount of good meat. we have tastebuds which agree with it and teeth to match.

the problem is when meat is the "main course" of the meal. it's like drinking alcohol.

excessively, you kill your heart and liver. moderately(once or twice a week in small amounts) and it is good for your heart and organs.

evidence suggests we are naturally meat eaters. we just aren't supposed to be dependant on it.
Reply:humans are genetically designed to be omnivorous hence canines and molars,a healthy balanced diet including a small amount of first class protein in the form of meat, and a large amount of fruits and vegetables, and the other food groups is nutritionally the best for us.vegetarianism is a choice not a must.
Reply:According to the Bible, Man was originally a vegetarian, eating the meat of seeds and fruit. I am not sure when animal meat came into it.

Regardless, my sister is a vegetarian - no animal meat at all. Her husband was also a vegetarian but he became ill. They tried everything to avoid his eating meat but eventually he had to return to animal meat, which was what the doctor originally ordered.

If we have the ability to chew and digest both, we are made to and so should eat both, with our personal health always being the moderator.
Reply:Yes you are Right that non vegetarian is Rajas Food(activity food) it is not good food for man because it makes the mind restless. So in spirituality it is necessary that we don't take non veg.

I have read it in a book by Swami Yukteswar Giri, I have known it by Swami Sivananda, Swami Vivekananda, Paramahansa Yogananda.

Man's body is to eat fruits, his digestive system is fit to digest fruits Readily, even teeth. Yes, I have read it!
Reply:A lot is commented upon vegetarian and nonvegetarian people. If you observe, scientific has also concluded the same, the set of teeth found in the mouth of a human being are combination teeth. Herbivorous animals have flat surface teeth which are meant to chew the kind of food they eat. Carnivorous animals, on the other hand , have sharp %26amp; pointed teeth which are useful for tearing and biting meat. Human beings have both of these, hence, confirming the fact that GOD has facilitated us to eat both vegetarian as well as non vegetarian food. Spirituality has nothing to with these things. You can never get closer to GOD by leaving things he has gifted.
Reply:eat what is healthy for ur whole body.killing animals and toasting into ur open mouth is not good for u as well as ur animal.lol
Reply:Eat what is good for your health. Eat what your conscience will allow you to eat without causing too much agitation in your mind. Eat in moderation, drink in moderation.

Do not take it to extremes, the difference between plant and animal gets murky at the some points. Bacteria and virus are animals too, we can not avoid hurting them. In our day to day living we do harm other animal life. Habitat destruction, and pollution kills a lot of animals.

Plants also are living beings. What about Fungi, where do you classify them. What about unfertilized eggs, and milk products. There are some gray areas.

Do the least harm to environment by your action.

Please leave some vegetables for us vegetarians, so let others eat what ever is right for them
Reply:You must know that it is the plants and herbs that create the alkaloids for preparig all kinds of medicines .They provide all kids of elements including metllic ones in edible and digetible forms .the flesh does not contain all the trace and vital elements for the needs of a healthy man. Even the flesh yo eat id oif he animals that survived by eating herbs and leaves of plants only.

Meat gives yu only protein only and no t all theelemtns that your body needs .

Man's diestie system was suited for eating flesh only.thea if why yu have two pairs can nine teeth at both ends of the incisors in the upper and lower jaws .It was ecause these two pairs of canine teeth were in th earlier stage of ur sevelopment were protrudig , you see images of the porters of the temple having them in the mouth much like demons.Thisis wanbt man was in his earlier stage and thew People of India have been creatig images of Gods and ther gaurds wit such teeth .Now we call them as demons . .

Once man was able to find out that the herbs and plants have an enourmous amount of nutients that the body needs that started cultivating he plants and crops and gradually started depending on vegetarian diets .Though our digestive system was unsuitable for vegeariuan food , we hav slowly developed ability to digest the vegetatian food also.

Man has found that plants and herbs contai the most useful and vital elements that our body needs , people have taken to vegetarian diet .Our cannine teeth has also shrunk and is now inside our mouths.and not protrudig out in an ugly manner ,

Vegetartian diet is now a preventive and curative medicine besides being a food that is filling .

It is pertinent point out here that even the non-vegetarian food needs lot of herbs and vegetarian stuff to make it edible , tasty and sweet smelling
Reply:I have recently turned vegetarian after reading your question...

Jokes apart,

Living beings are divided into three basic catogaries depending upon the number of senses, feelings %26amp; instincts :

1.Plants

2.Animals

3.Human beings

Remember the whole world is based on 'Unseen Love %26amp; Unseen Faith' .So when you kill an animal ....

1.You are not only killing his unseen faith to live another moment but also killing GOD's unseen faith in his creation.

2.Scientifically , When you eat slaughetred animal you imbibe unseen animal instincts like fear , depression, pain, insecurity etc.

3.Plants are designed in a way that we humans can live on it.

4.Also, Prophet Mohammad was against slaughtering of living beings including animals as he beautifully said ...

" Ink of scholar is more sacred than blood of martyr "

He never wanted any muslim to shed blood in any form even be it of a goat. (So say no to 'Bakr - id' %26amp; love 'Id-e-milad').Even hindu rajputs should not slaughter animals in the name of GOD.

So, in the words of QURAN Prophet Mohammad

" Be Vegetarian ,Achhaa hai....."

GOD BLESS !!!
Reply:Humans are omnivores and our teeth and digestive systems prove it.

Humans have the cutting and tearing teeth of canines and incisors. They are designed to cut, tear and separate meat. Our molars are designed to grind up fruit and vegetable products, but we lack the intestinal bacteria to make the most use of vegetables. Celery has long been known as a food with a negative calorie intake. That’s because the calories from it are less than the calories consumed in digesting and processing it.

Our digestion system is a compromise that allows us to take and use a wide range of foods. It means we can’t digest most barks, many grasses (wheat and oats are notable exceptions), and some other things. But it means we can get concentrated nutritional value out of meat. This means that unlike a cow we don’t have 4 stomachs to grind up our food. We can use that energy for other things like to hunt and gather or even to chase the occasional rabbit or deer.

Meat is a better source of protein and fat than vegetables are, since the prey animal concentrated the nutrients and created the new product fat, to store the extra calories and carbohydrates, you don’t need to digest the tough structure mean to hold the plants up in the sunlight. You don’t need to digest the tough plant’s covering and protective mechanism, these have all be edited out by the animal.

The reason why we have a taste for fat is because it is so important to long term survival and so rare, plants don’t store fat, so a vegetarian diet makes you quite lean. Plants also don’t have a lot of need for iron which oxygen using animals use in their blood. Anemia (lack of iron in the blood) is a common condition among true vegetarians. They have to take iron supplements or a standard multivitamin which holds extra iron and other minerals and nutrients. This proves that we are not designed to be vegetarians, and on a strict vegetable only diet a human would die.

On the other hand we are not meant to consume entire haunch of an animal at one sitting, maybe only during a week. Meat is meant to supplement our diet, not to be the primary source of it. One big reason for this is that it takes a lot of energy, skill, and concentration to hunt prey animals, and we don’t get as much nutrition or flavor out of predator animals; animals that we might kill in self defense.

Humans are not designed to get three-five square meals a day, which too many people get. In fact the simplest way to extend your life is to reduce your calorie intake to 1/3 of what you are on right now. Few people want to do that and only a few people have actually tried that. Those that have are leaner and healthier than the average citizen. Vegetarians who supplement their diet are healthier than the average citizen as well.

The major difference between humans and animals is in our adaptation for higher thought. Once we discovered the secret of fire mankind stopped evolving. Instead of changing ourselves to adapt to the environment as the animals do we change the environment to suit us. When we want warmth we get a fire for heat, when we want to avoid the rain we build a shelter, when we want to hunt an animal we create weapons and traps and so on. We use our brains to improve our chance to survive and when we did that we pretty much stopped evolving.

If you compare mankind to our ancestors of 5,000 years ago the only difference is an increase in height and life expectancy; probably due to a better diet. During that time entire species of birds and some other animals have developed and gone extinct. Our long life as a species shows that our adaptations are working pretty well. When you consider how many animals (possible competition) have been rendered extinct or had their ranges serious compromised you can see that we have the better evolutionary adaptation; which also explains why we haven’t changed much. A perfect example of that are our wisdom teeth. Cavemen needed wisdom teeth because by the time they reached adulthood they may have lost a few teeth and these molars would come in and help replace those lost teeth. Today we still have wisdom teeth, but we have been extracting them since the 1800s. They are no longer needed, but because we haven’t evolved we aren’t changing so we still have the wisdom teeth.

If you look at the human as an animal then the vegetarian diet is wrong, we are omnivores and without manmade vitamin supplements they would die. However, most civilized humans are eating far more than they need to. Fat serves two major purposes; insulation to maintain body temperature, and to store food reserves. Ancient humans were pretty lean, even primitive men were lean; only the ruling class had the chance to eat so much food that they became fat. After the Black Plague the labor of one man became valuable and the middle class was born. The middle class in most developed nations have grown fatter because they have more access to food. Only in the third word is the chance of starvation a daily reality. Even then in a lot of third world nations like the jungles of Indonesia, earning a living is not that hard. There are a lot of vegetable and fruits to hunt and gather and there are a lot of animals; especially fish that can be hunted. In these areas humans don’t have to have an advanced civilization to survive.

The White Man rose to supremacy because of our technology and we got there because we needed it to survive in the cold northern climate of Europe. The Aryan people started in China and moved south to live in India then for some reason they fled India and moved to the much more hostile climate of Northern Europe. The most probably reason is that they got their rear ends kicked and fled the competition of the subtropical Indian climate—so much for the natural superiority of the white man. We developed technology, increasing our intelligence, to survive thus making most use of our evolutionary tactic. Now days the rest of the world looks at the white race as near mythical super beings. We are just smarter and we started from the same stock as all of humanity; no matter if you believe in creation or evolution. We white folk are now becoming a fatter people and some of us, realizing this, are going vegan. In the Hindi world religious beliefs promote vegetarianism. According to the Hindi beliefs some animals are sacred; representations of their gods and others might hold a former human soul having to work off their karmic burden of their previous lives. So that dog you kick could by your great uncle tom the black sheep of the family. This produces a reverence for all life.

In the Western World the Vegans have become more militant and approach their diet with an almost religious attitude. The sayings; “Your body is a temple” and “You are what you eat” are both good ones. Because what you put in is what you become and if you treat your body with respect then you won’t have so many health problems. So the vegetarians have a point, but they have gone to an extreme.

The more sensible attitude is to limit your serving of meat to a few ounces of day, avoid red meat, eat more fish, and concentrate your diet on vegetables with some fruits for flavor and variety. We are not cows that have 4 stomachs and the ability to digest almost any plant matter, nor are we birds with a gizzard that uses swallowed stones and a muscular stomach to digest their food; we humans have teeth. Our teeth determine our diet. We share the same kind of teeth as plant eaters and meat eaters showing that we are omnivores and can eat both. We would die if we didn’t eat both, if a human tried to live only as a carnivore they would suffer vitamin deficiencies, have too much fat, and other problems. Gout is a disease caused by a rich food diet consisting of mostly meat and that is why it was common among the former nobility of Western Europe and early America. It is almost unknown among the third word and those who have a balanced diet.

Spiritually eating meat has little consequence on our lives. Killing animals is not necessarily a great idea, and in the Hindi faith it is a very bad idea; but among the rest of the world killing animals just for dinner isn’t necessarily an evil idea. Of course consuming the amount of meat that most western civilized people do is a waste and not a good idea. It is a product of our society that concentrated on wealth more than diet.
Reply:Sorry. I do not agree with you for the following reasons..............

Scientifically both plants and animals are having one basic unit common i.e. cell.

It's contents are remarkably common except few like chlorophyl, centrosome, plastids, vacuoles etc. These cell constitute the whole

body of an animal or a plant.

Now basic difference being it's inability to create sound [ cry ] when broken /eaten /plucked, a plant or vegitable, can not make it

eatable ethically and logically.

People eat vegitables just becoz they dont scream or cry. People drink milk which was actually meant for the calf and not for any other purpose. Where is their ethics ?

The only purpose of production of fruits in the plants is to propagate it's kind and not to feed humen beings.

Then why do we eat fruits ?

There may be a reason that blood of the killed animal makes them to have a guilty feeling, which is red and like ours becoz of

hoemoglobin. But then the blood of plants, incidently not red, is as important as red blood.

We love to kill kockroaches just becoz they dont have red blood.

The canines are the teeth which are not found in Herbivorous animals. The fact that canines are present in humen beings make it clear that humen are Omnivorous as the God meant us to be.

Humen are having long and very peculiar kind of intestine meant for digesting both meat %26amp; vegitables. The intestine of herbivorous animals can not digest meat.

You can not feed meat to a sheep and grass to a lion. Can you ?

The vedas also tells us....

" DAKSHIN MATR KANYA, UTTAR MANS BHOJANA, PASHCHIM KRIYA NASHCHATE, TRIO DOSH VANDATEY. "

Meaning thereby that " To marry a girl in mother's side in the South, To eat meat in the North, Not performing full funeral in the West ARE NOT DOSH [ not wrong ]

A sin is simply religious observation and since God has himself made us omnivorous, it is not at all a sin to eat non-veg like it is not a sin to eat vegitables %26amp; fruits.

However for health point of view one should prefer vegitables though there are some protiens which can only be found in meat.

Religion and sprituality in no way obsructs you to eat meat.
