Do they still make disclosure tablets for dental plaque?

I remember at primary school, a dentist visited our school to gove a talk on dental hygeine. Some packets of tablets (mainly red, but there might have been sme blue ones too) were given to us. They were small and looked like vitamin tablets. What you did was brush your teeth ,put one into your mouth and chew on it. Darker patches of dye highlighted where there was still plaque, so that you knew areas you needed to concentrate on.

I have a dental appointment next Monday, and although I have no symptoms of tooth problems as yet, I am ashamed to say I have not been looking after my teeth as well as I might. I would like to use one again to see how well I've really been brushing. Is there anywhere I can get these things from, if they are still available?

Check with your dentist when u go to see them. Ask if they still have any and if they do, see if you can get some just to check up on how you are brushing.

I know exactly what u r talking about! I had those when I went to the dentist as a kid. I thought they were so cool cuz your teeth turned red! Even though that meant that I had to rebrush my teeth again.
Reply:yes ask ur pharmacist or dentist

Reply:I remember i had to use these when i had a brace on when i was a kid. I think we used to get them from Boots. If you can't get them there, you should definately ask your dentist.
Reply:They actually make a month rinse which does the same thing. It's basically a liquid version of the disclosure tablets. It is a lot easier to use. It's marketed towards kids, but no reason a you can't use it.

Reply:Yes.You can pick Oral-B ones up from most pharmacies and chemists.
Reply:Yes they do ... you should be able to get them in Boots.
Reply:Yes i get them for my daughter from Boots, they sell them in red or blue. that the only place i have seen them. we got the blue ones called advanced and Boots own make, get a pack with 12 in them.
Reply:They still make them. If you go to a larger drug store, you can get these.
Reply:Yes, you can buy them on-line or get from your dentist or local dental school.

The blue mouthwash made for kids to do the same thing does not work. It is too weak to actually stain the plaque, so it gives a false sense of security. It makes you think your teeth are clean when they are not. Better to go with the professional grade product.
Reply:Yeah i have seem them in Boots the Chemist
Reply:Yes, they sure do. We use them in our office.
