Which dentist to believe more, primary dentist or oral surgeon?

I have a question, My primary dentist told me that I need to get one of my wisdom teeth removed, but that I should leave the other 2 (I was the lucky one who only has 3). However, when I went for my consultation, the oral surgeon said that it would be in the better choice to have them all removed, so why the difference in opinions, and which on to believe?

If 'the other two' are on the same side and they seem to be erupting normally without pending complication, then you can leave them in, but chances are if one isn't erupting normally, the others won't, either.

Sometimes the oral surgeons suggest to have all of them removed at the same time to save you from having to go back in the future.

Ultimately, it's up to you. Ask to see the panoramic xray so he can tell you WHY he suggests having them all removed. Sometimes seeing something is better to comprehend than just hearing about it.

Good luck~

Reply:Most people get ALL 4 wisdom teeth removed because they usually come in sideways or become impacted or cause your teeth to crowd. Its up to you.
