Dentist complaint?

I took my son in for a dentist appointment, he was supposed to get 2 primary (baby) teeth pulled and one cavity filled. While the specialist was pulling his tooth, he began to cry. I asked if I could go into the room with him. When I walked in he was crying %26amp; shaking. The dentist began pulling his tooth and only took out half of it. She then began to take out the other half %26amp; was taking it out piece by piece. By then my son was SCREAMING! A small amount of blood was coming out %26amp; was going down his throat. (He gets grossed out very easily) so he began to cough (like in a choking way) I sat him up and he through up in my hands. After washing up she began again pulling pieces of the tooth again, and again he coughed and through up again in my hands. I asked the dentist if we could use that suction tube being that he was lying down and every thing was building up in his mouth and that was causing him to throw up, she said no. She said she couldn't continue because he was not cooperating.

Dentist complaint?
As you know, we are only hearing your side of the story... but I agree with odandme, I'd find a dentist who is more children friendly as I don't believe this one to be children friendly.
Reply:Wow, I've never had a problem like that before. I don't know who you would even complain to... but I'd sure find a more kid freindly dentist if I could!
Reply:Your state attorney general, state board of dental licensing, ADA and board of consumer protection would be a good place to start. You may get the run around initially to find out who you really need to talk to but those are places to start, and I hate to encourage litigation, but there's no reason your child should have been in pain and there's a level of unprofessionalisim displayed.

You cannot leave the roots of even baby teeth in the gums or you're risking serious complications and infection. Did they prescribe antibiotics? If they didn't that's something else that must be addressed. Take your son to another dentist and get this resolved ASAP for the health and safety of your son.
Reply:I would immediately report this to the ADA. American Dental Association or a local 'watchdog' group. That is horrid. Your child will never want to go to a dentist again. This is beyond your son not cooperting. This is "emotional scarring!!!"
Reply:Nothing really to file a complaint about, sorry. I would look for a pediatric dentist.

You didn't specify what kind of specialist you took him to. Good luck with your claim, I doubt anything will come of it.
Reply:While it is fine to be upset with the treatment there is nothing to file a complaint about. The dentist probably doesn't work well with children, end of story. Find a local pediatric dentist.
Reply:I would sue him/her and go to another dentist...THAT IS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE...my aunt had about that same problem with her son, and she sued the dentist for about a half a million
